Khogiram (Atul Kulkarni), his wife (Rituparna Sengupta) and their kids Pinu (Darsheel) and Rimzim (Zia) belong to a terrorist dominated region. Khogiram and Ritu have a hand-to-mouth income working for a tea plantation and can barely manage things. The kids are affected by this as well.
They go to a respectable school as it is Khogiram's ambition to give them the educational opportunities he missed.
But the financial crunch makes it difficult for kids to match the standards of the school. They don't have enough money for uniform or shoes. Things become worse when Pinu misplaces Rimzim's only pair of shoes in the vegetable shop!
Rimzim can't go to school without her shoes. They work out a scheme where both of them share the same shoes. However, Pinu always gets into trouble at school waiting for Rimzim to give him the shoes. He comes to know of the Interschool Marathon where one of the prizes is a pair of shoes. Pinu plans to run for it and win the shoes for Rimzim.
Will Pinu be able to win the shoes for his kid sister and avert his fathers' anger? Will god smile at Pinu and bring an end to his troubles? How long will this dark stretch last for Khogiram's family?
'Bumm Bumm Bole' has many inspirational songs
The music of director Priyadarshan's children's film 'Bumm Bumm Bole' mainly focuses on inspirational songs. Following the multi-composer format, the film's music is likeable, but the songs may not really go on to become chartbusters.
The movie, which stars child actor Darsheel Safary of 'Taare Zameen Par' fame, is slated to release May 14. The soundtrack offers four originals.
The album opens with Shaan crooning the title track of the film. The song has a feel-good quality and Shaan's rendition makes it a decent hear. While it can't be called brilliant, it is certainly not bad.
Next in line is 'Aashaon ke pankh laga le' with Kirti Sagathia and Hrishikesh Kamerkar behind the mike. This one too uses the title of the film in the lyrics. Fast-paced and inspirational, the song is characterised by thumping beats, which make it catchy and an interesting hear.
Then we have Malini Awasthi singing 'Man ki aasha', a melodious, motivational track with a folk touch. The composition is interesting and has touches of music from the hills.
Finally there is 'Rang de' sung by Clinton Cerejo and Kirti Sagathia. The strumming of the guitar in the song makes it quite youthful and appealing. It is a soft number that doesn't leave a mark instantly but grows on you slowly.
On the whole, the soundtrack is average. Anyway, one doesn't usually expect a children's film to provide music that appeals to all listeners.
Priyan postpones 'BBB' release by a week
Film-maker Priyadarshan’s ‘Bumm Bumm Bole’ (BBB), which was scheduled to release on 7th May, will now be releasing on 14th May, to avoid clash with the multi-starrer ‘Badmaash Company’.
Along with Yash Raj Films' Badmaash Company, Gurinder Chadha's ‘It's A Wonderful Afterlife’ and ‘Iron Man-2’, would also be releasing on May 7. Since there's no big film slated to hit the screens on May 14, Priyadarshan believes it would only be in the interests of the film to postpone the release by a week.
As it turns out, this is the second time the release of BBB is being postponed. The film was originally scheduled to hit the screens the eve of Diwali last y ear but had to be rescheduled due to the general economic recession that prevailed throughout the country at that time.
‘Bumm Bumm Bole’, billed as a hilarious comedy in a typical Priyadarshan way, stars Atul Kulkarni, Rituparna Sengupta, Darsheel Safary (of ‘Taare Zameen Par’ fame) and Ziyah Vastani. Priyadarshan concedes that the film is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed Iranian film ‘Children of Heaven’ by noted film-maker Majid Majidi.
Darsheel is a class act: Priyadarshan
Bollywood director Priyadarshan is of the view that Master Darsheel, who debuted in Aamir Khan's award-winning directorial venture 'Taare Zameen Par" more than two years ago, is an actor par excellence and that his natural flair for action could put to shame some of the well-established actors in Bollywood.
Darsheel plays an important role in Priyadarshan's forthcoming film Bumm Bumm Bole. Priyan says that Darsheel, surprisingly, appears to know beforehand what expressions to wear on the sequences that are shot.
Priyadarshan compliments superstar Aamir Khan for having made Darsheel a complete actor. :"As such, it's not so difficult to direct him or make him understand the sequences," he opined and added that Bumm Bumm Bole was an adaptation of the award-winning Iranian film "Children of Heaven" directed by Majid Majidi.
The story has been re-written to suit the Indian audience, he said and was at pains to explain that though the protagonists of the film are children, it's not a children's film at all.
"It's not a children's film. It has got terrorism and politics as a backdrop. The problems of a family are also shown. So you can't say it is a children's film. But it's a film that children will enjoy a lot as it's a clean family entertainer," he said.
The director, who won the national award for the Tamil film "Kanchivaram", believes that Bumm Bumm Bole could be a turning point in his career.
