It’s a wonderful after life’ to be released in Pakistan on May 7
(APP)-British Asian film and music industry gathered at Central London’s Leicester Square Monday night for the UK premiere of award winning director, Gurinder Chadha’s It’s a wonderful after life’ which is set to be released in Pakistan on May 7.The movie is being released in cinemas across the UK on April 21.The film stars legendary Shabana Azmi, who plays Mrs Sethi, a serial curry killer whose match-making efforts turn sinister when she attempts to find a suitor for her daughter.A dramatic police hunt for the murderer begins in Southall, west London, which is home to a predominantly large population from South Asian sub-continent ,as Mrs Sethi’s race to find a husband for her daughter continues.
Leading actress Goldy Notay who played the role of Roopi, speaking to the media said: “This is a film about love, comedy, and ultimately it’s a fun film. Women can really relate to Roopi and her journey to find Mr Right.”Organisers said Ms Azmi could not travel to London because of her commitments in India.
Shabana Azmi misses 'It's A Wonderful After life' premiere
Actress Shabana Azmi, who is nursing a fractured foot, could not attend the star-studded premiere of Gurinder Chadha's new comedy 'It's A Wonderful Afterlife' here.
The London premiere of the film, which was held at Leicester Square on 12 April, will be followed by a regional Birmingham premiere on April 14.
The other cast members along with director Chadha, husband and co-writer for the film Paul Mayedes Berges were present at the event, which was also attended by international actors like Mark Addy, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Zoe Wanamaker, Jimi Mistry, Preeya Kalidas, Sally Hawkins and Juggy D.
The film, which releases in India on May 7, will see Azmi playing the role of an Indian mother desperate to get her daughter married. Her obsession leads her into the world of serial-murder. She tries various methods to trap prospective suitors but when they reject her daughter she takes her revenge by killing them.
